Jenny Galt

Jenny Galt is a Canadian singer/songwriter best known as one of the finalists on the television show Rockstar: Supernova.
Born in 1976 in Montreal, and educated in Ottawa (with music studies at Carleton University), Galt has been based in Vancouver for the past decade, where her group Cherrybomb (later called Yellow Light) played to favourable reviews (), with tours of both Canada and Australia. The group released four albums - most recently ''Speed of Light'' in 2005. She also has two songs on the Canadian TV series, ''Falcon Beach''. She began a solo career in 2006, with her pop rock work being well received.〔(); Canada's Walk of Fame〕 In 2013, she auditioned for the third season of Polish version of ''X Factor''.
== Rockstar: Supernova ==
On the strength of her previous work, she was invited to audition for ''Rockstar: Supernova'', where she advanced, in a worldwide talent search, to become one of two Canadian finalists in a field of 15. When the performance shows began, she faced the challenge of adapting the quieter and softer approach of her previous work to the harder edge expected on the show. She had some success with this in her arrangement of "Tainted Love" by Soft Cell, but less success with "How You Remind Me" by Nickelback, and still less with "Drive", by Incubus. In the elimination show of July 19, 2006, she sang "Vasoline", by Stone Temple Pilots, moving further but not far enough in the direction sought by Supernova.

Proficient on both the piano and the guitar, she accompanied herself (along with the Rockstar House Band) on the electric guitar in her performance of "How You Remind Me", and on the acoustic guitar in her performance of "Drive".
While she won compliments from show host (and professional guitarist) Dave Navarro for her instrumentals, many observers of the show thought that this made it more difficult for her to adapt her vocals to what Supernova was looking for - particularly in her performance of "Drive".
In her exit from the show, she promised to move beyond the "safe choices" of the past - and it remains to be seen where this will take her music, which so far has been primarily in the pop rock genre.
